Project Highlights
In 2003, The Advance Group worked with the New York State AFL-CIO to produce the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride Rally in Flushing Meadows Park. The rally drew more than 125,000 immigrants, workers and community members in support of the rights of immigrants in our country. The concert included performances by more than ten international bands and featured a special performance by Wyclef Jean.
Approximately one in six men will develop prostate cancer, but if caught early nearly 100% will survive. The Advance Group partnered with the National Prostate Cancer Coalition in a citywide effort to expand outreach to highrisk populations and provide free testing for early prostate cancer detection. Over the course of several days, The Advance Group organized multiple units requiring the staffing of dozens of staff and volunteers in order to deliver free services in each of the sites.
In 2006, The Advance Group produced an event at Cooper Union sponsored by the London Review of Books. The event, a forum on the Israel lobby, featured six world-renowned panelists including Martin Indyk, Shlomo Ben Ami and Dennis Ross. The successful event was standing room only and widely viewed on the Bravo network.
When the World Cup came to the United States, The Advance Group worked with the non-profit arm of World Cup Soccer, Legacy Tour '94. The Advance Group organized dozens of soccer clinics for youth neighborhoods across the five boroughs. Our efforts culminated in a Soccer Extravaganza in Central Park. This event was headlined by international soccer star Pele and television star Andrew Shue.
